natural remedies for adhd in children
Has anyone found a herbal remedy for Adhd In Children aged 6 years?

My 6 year old is on Adderall XR 30mg for some time now and it is not working and the doctor refuses to change to anything else. I know I need a new doctor but until then has ANYONE found a natural herbal remedy that may help in the mean time to get her off this adderall and on something that will put some sanity in her life and ours? Please help

I can empathize with how you feel.
My 5 year old was diagnosed with ADHD, and the Doctor immediately prescribed a similar mind-altering drug to Aderall – Dexamphetamine.

As a mother I was desperate to try anything that could potentially help my daughter, and yes, for a short time, her behavior was transformed – but the positive results didn’t last….. I consulted another Psychiatrist, in the hope that there may be an effective, lasting alternative for my little girl. He explained stimulants lose their effectiveness over time,as the body becomes resistant to it’s effects. He went on to say ,the only way to counteract this is to increase the dosage.

Already skeptical about the potential for harmful side-effects, I researched natural alternatives, and to this day my little girl is happy, healthy and stimulant free. I might add I have nothing against conventional medicine, however if other alternatives are just as effective, more reliable, consist ant, and chemical free, I see no need to put my child on powerful drugs.

OMEGA-3 FISH OIL supplements affect brain function and have worked wonders. They are scientifically pr oven in several studies, to reduce the symptoms of ADHD, and ADD. I’d encourage you to find some detailed information about this on the net.

I might also add that monitoring your child’s diet, and eliminating certain preservatives, and food dyes that may trigger ADHD behavior is something worth thinking about.

Whether or not, you plan to try another medication or simply adopt natural alternatives, I wish you and your family the best of luck. It’s a hard and stressful time for all involved, so don’t lose heart. With some research, advice and an open minded attitude, I know your child’s condition can be improved – and your families as well!!!
